ZoneMapper is a free, browser-based zoning site plan tool. This page explains what information is collected when you use zonemapper.app, and what stays only on your device.
What stays on your device
Your map files, drawings, lot boundaries, setbacks, annotations, and exports are processed entirely in your browser. They are not uploaded to ZoneMapper servers as project files. We do not store your property plans on our servers.
What we collect
We use a small number of third-party tools to keep the product working and improve it:
-
Google Tag Manager (GTM) — container
GTM-MZW289GPloads measurement and analytics tags from Google (and any tags configured in that container). It may set cookies or similar identifiers and collect usage events (for example page views) so we can understand how the site is used. Core drawing and export work without it. - Sentry — anonymous error reports, sampled performance traces/profiles, and logs to help us diagnose bugs. Session Replay runs only when an error occurs (not continuously). Replays capture on-screen UI pixels and may include parts of a plan drawing that are visible at the time; text and media in replays are masked where possible. Optional in-app feedback can include a screenshot you choose to attach. Map and drawing files are not uploaded to Sentry.
Optional address and aerial map lookup
If you use “Start from address” or the optional “look up parcel by address” feature, the address you type (and its coordinates) is sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim and the FCC Census Block API. Coordinates may also be sent to your county’s public GIS parcel server and to public aerial imagery services (for example USDA NAIP via USGS, MassGIS, CT ECO, or other state orthoimagery hosts) so we can show a map background and optional parcel outline. Requests are triggered only when you submit an address — not while you type. Map files and drawings you create stay in your browser and are not uploaded to ZoneMapper.
Accounts and cookies
ZoneMapper does not require an account. Core drawing and export features work without signing in. Third-party analytics (Google Tag Manager / Google) and error monitoring (Sentry) may set their own cookies or similar identifiers; they are not required for the app’s core functionality.
Third-party services
- Google Tag Manager / Google analytics and measurement
- Sentry
- Optional address / aerial start: OpenStreetMap Nominatim, FCC Census API, county GIS parcel services, and public aerial imagery (USGS / USDA NAIP, MassGIS, CT ECO, and similar state hosts)
Those services have their own privacy policies. We only use them for the purposes described above.
